Yosemite Weddings

Saying “I Do” is one of life’s greatest decisions. For most people, this is a turning point in their lives. And like most important events, the exchange of marriage vows requires careful planning.

The Yosemite National Park is home to some of nature’s supreme wonders. The scenic beauty of the place makes the perfect backdrop for any special event. Yosemite weddings have become more and more popular. Couples have discovered the perfect wedding setting amidst the magnificent company of nature.

For those who wish to have Yosemite weddings, the park requires couples to secure a Special Use Permit. The permit, which costs about %150.00, allows couples to hold their wedding ceremony in wedding areas within the Yosemite National Park. The Yosemite Valley is home to several options: The Lower Yosemite Fall may be the venue of Yosemite weddings but can only accommodate certain group sizes. Another nice area for Yosemite weddings is the sandy beach, north of the Merced River. It can accommodate a maximum of twenty people, but is available everyday of the year. Couple who need a larger venue may opt for the Cathedral Beach Picnic Area, which can cater to fifty people the most. The area is closed in the late afternoons, and in the months of November until April. The Sentinel Beach Picnic Area is another Yosemite weddings venue that is a good choice for those who want space for 100 people. However, this area is closed from November till April and at dusk everyday. This is also not usually available in the rafting season which runs from late May to the middle of August. The Bridalveil Falls provides a splendid background fro Yosemite weddings. This location accommodates 50 people and is open all-year-round.

There are numerous other alternative venues for Yosemite weddings within the park. Wawona has about four areas that are great wedding sites as well. These are: Wawona Point, Mariposa Grove Museum Area, Glacier Point, and Chilnualna Falls Trailhead Parking Lot. The latter though, is the only one available throughout the year.

The Tuolumne Meadows has its own share of fine wedding locations. These are only available though at the end of May until October. The Soda Springs, Tenaya Beach, and Tuolumne Lodge Area are among your choices in the Tuolumne area.

The permit issued for Yosemite Weddings does not give you the freedom to ban other park guests from going to your wedding location. The site should be one that is not frequented by park visitors to avoid other groups from walking in on your wedding.

Yosemite weddings are not unpopular that is why the park allows couples to book a yea in advance and to finalize wedding plans at least 21 days before the actual date. That is, if you don’t want to end up having it somewhere else.

Yosemite Weather

The weather in Yosemite is usually predictable, but that varies from that of the summer, fall, winter and spring. And since the weather can largely affect your vacation to Yosemite, it is important to know then how Yosemite seemed like during these four seasons.

In summer, the Yosemite weather is pretty fine. This season starts from June through September, and with the weather being accommodating and predictable, there are a lot of chances for you to see almost all of the wonders in the Yosemite National Park. All of the areas in the park are also accessible by car during the summer. So if you are visiting Yosemite with your own car, then you drive through the park any time you want to.

The Yosemite weather during the summer ranges from warm to hot. Rain pours occasionally, usually at higher elevations where an afternoon thunderstorm occurs. If you happen to be staying in the Yosemite Valley, then note that the Yosemite weather in these areas may reach to 87 degree Fahrenheit to 51 degree Fahrenheit. With this average, most of the water that flows in Yosemite comes from the snowmelt in the high country. All of the great waterfalls in the area also run swiftly, but they can be very low by late summer.

If you will be visiting in fall, note that the Yosemite weather can be quite variable. The weather may range from hot to cold and from dry to rainy or snowy. In Wawona and Yosemite Valley areas, the Yosemite weather may hit 54 degrees Fahrenheit to 35 degrees Fahrenheit. So in this case, you still have the chance to view all of the Yosemite National Park, but the people you may see at the park are only few. Note that the fall in Yosemite runs from October to November.

During the wintertime, which runs from December to March, the Yosemite weather is identified by being snowy and cold. However, sunny and chilly days may appear, but not so common. If you are staying in the Yosemite Valley or in Wawona, you may notice the Yosemite weather to be hitting the average degree of about 53 degrees Fahrenheit to about 28 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, during this season, the Tioga Road is closed although the Yosemite Valley and Wawona are still accessible by car. So once the Tioga Road is closed, the vehicles are not then allowed to enter between the Crane Flat and Tioga Pass, as well as in the Tuolumne Meadows. This is also true in the Glacier Point. So if you are visiting in wintertime, expect to have a limited access to Yosemite’s wonderful sites.

Finally, in spring, the Yosemite weather is also highly variable. The area is often visited by sunny and relatively warm days, but there is also occasional winter storm. Also, the Yosemite weather may reach from 69 degrees Fahrenheit up to 39 degrees Fahrenheit. Well, during this season, the Yosemite Valley and Wawona are accessible by car; however, Glacier and Tioga areas are closed due to snow until late of May. The spring in Yosemite actually starts from April and ends in May.

Yosemite Camping Reservations

So you’re a camping enthusiast? You love camping and you want to make sure that your camping vacation in Yosemite will turn out one of the best. Well, there’s no better way of making that possible than to consider Yosemite camping reservations.

The Yosemite camping reservations are designed and developed to be reserved in advance. However, there are some campgrounds that offer only the so-called “first come, first served” basis. This trend is very much common during summer in which about 400 campgrounds throughout Yosemite are available on such kind of service. But since, the first come, first served basis seemed like a matter of chance that you may need to arrive early for you to obtain the best camp site, many people consider Yosemite camping reservations a great alternative.

The Yosemite camping reservations are now offered in large numbers. About half of the region’s 500 campgrounds require their customers to do reservations before they make their visit. Well, with this availability, making reservations for camping activities in Yosemite can be a bit easy. All you need to do is to find the right campground and make your reservation based on what you need and prefer.

Typically, the Yosemite camping reservations are made available one month ahead at a given time. It is often suggested that if you want to obtain the best selection of camping sites, it would be best if you make your Yosemite camping reservations on the 15th of the month.

You can reserve camping sites in Yosemite in two best possible ways. First, the reservations can be done by telephone. All you need to do is to contact the National Park Service (NPS) through these numbers: (800) 436-7275, (301) 722-1257 or (888) 530-9796. The second most possible way of making your Yosemite camping reservations is to go online and use the Yosemite camping reservation system which is offered by the NPS themselves.

However, when making your camping reservations online, it is important to know first which camping site you really want to stay. Think about having at least two or three campgrounds in mind and try to compare them according to what they can offer. Also, consider your right choice based on the campground size. As you may know, the small campgrounds used to fill up first, but much to your surprise, they provide a more pleasant and smoke-free area during the evenings. And, note that when using the Yosemite camping reservation system online, you are only entitled to one camping site at a time.

If you’ve made the reservations based on the terms and conditions set by the reservation system, you are required to arrive on time especially on the first day. If you failed to come on a given date, it is important to contact the reservation site or else your Yosemite camping reservations will be cancelled.
